A ROUMANIAN ROYAL RETREAT
The Bystander, August 7, 1907

The "Nest" of the Crown Princess of Roumania in the Woods at Pelesch, near Sinaia

When Roumanian Royalties take holidays their Sandringham is Sinaia, the exquisite rural retreat of the Royal Family in the Carpathians. "Carmen Sylva," the aged Queen, is devoted to the spot, while her daughter-in-law, the Crown Princess (the beautiful daughter of the lata Duke of Coburg), finds frequent rest in the curious little nest shown in the picture. Built on poles fixed to the tall pine trees, whose branches surround it, the nest is indeed an idyllic retreat, either in winter or summer.
