There are only a few countries in which driving is as common as in Romania. You will never see people of the upper classes walking on the streets and women of middle class only seldom. Extreme luxury is created using fine carriages. Bucharest alone counts 14,000 fine carriages and 50,000 fine horses, not counting the closet carriages. The countryman also likes fine carriages. If the market, where people are very amused, is closed, great races are carried out. Such is illustrated in our picture. Characteristic is the three abreast team, based on the style of the Russian troika carriage.
