Danube Delta, 11 September

We quietly approached the rustic home of a Lipovan. These people came from Russia over 200 years ago and settled in the Delta area as well as along the Prut River. Their houses are usually made of reeds and covered with a thatched roof, as can be seen here. This yard has flower gardens, grapevines, and a walkway going right down to the water—the Lipovan's road. The boat was gone and the owner not at home.
