This view was made from Kinnouli Hill in the immediate vicinity of Perth, which city was, until the assassination of James I, the capital of Scotland. The Carse of Gowrie, or Valley of the Tay, has very rich soil, and here crops of all kinds, including fruit and floral productions, are brought to the highest perfection.
